Dad

My dad is a wonderful person to be around. He is fun and loving. I can talk to

him about problems that I may have, and he can usually help to fix them. Parents

are usually their child's friends. Sometimes the child doesn't like to have their parent

as a friend, or they just don't want to admit that they like having their parent as a

friend, or maybe the parent doesn't want to be the child's friend. I am proud to have

my dad as a friend.

My dad was in the West Warwick RI fire. He was burned from the chest up (third degree).

He was in a coma for three months. When I first heard about the fire, I was in shock

for a long time. Then finally, I had realized what had really happened. My dad is

very special to me. I can't imagine how much pain he was in.

My mom and Aunt Pam had to identify him by his legs and feet. He was in

Mass General Hospital for five months. He recently got transferred to Spaulding

Rehab Hospital. I go up to see him whenever I get a chance, usually the weekends.

My dad is a large influence on my life. He has been brave through all of this. He

said "The only reason I am alive is because of you and Mom"

He fought for us. He is a good person and even going through what he has gone

through, he is still the same funny dad that he was before all of this happened. To

me, he gives the word Dad/ Daddy a special meaning. Even though, he doesn't

look the same, he is still the same person on the inside.
